I am recently going to be renovating one of my many sites (although which site is a secret), so I created a new design. I used several elements from different sites to create a bright and colorful layout. The blue color scheme is similar to the colors on this button from BHLabs. The diagonal lines in the header were inspired by ColourMod, and the tab menu was inspired by Ordered List's previous layout.
The designing process was different this time compared to previous layouts. I made a few sketches to plan out how I wanted things to look, came up with a color palette, then started Photoshopping the preview above. This is also one of the first time's I've made use of the grid and guides in Photoshop to keep things lined up, as well as layer groups to manage the mess of layers (Somewhere around 25-30 in all).

I just noticed the font is too bold. Also, if it's going to be a blog, you'll need to think about the title, date and tag of the post not just a big block of text. And like I said before, the orange looks red-ish.

Well, first of all, this is a photoshop mockup of the layout rather than a screenshot of the XHTML'd layout (Hence it is under graphics instead of sites).Photoshop's text rendering is different from that of actual operating systems, so of course the text looks off.
Second, being a generic mock-up template, it is non-specific to the type of site it is used for. That said, it's not for a blog, but a gaming site (hence the sample logo used)
